About Imam Nawawi
Imam Nawawi was born in the village of Nawa in Southern Syria. He spent most of his life in Damascus where he lived in a simple manner, devoted to Allah. 
Although best known for his works in hadith, Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi (d. 676/1277) was also the Imam of the later Shafi'i school of Jurisprudence. He was a renowned scholar and jurist who dedicated his life to pursuing Islamic learning. Imam Nawawi died at the young age of 44 years, leaving behind him numerous works of great effort and knowledge.

About The Translator
Adil Salahi is a scholar, author and translator who has written or translated various books on Islam into English. After working for the BBC Arabic Service for several years, he worked for the Arabic daily, al-Sharq al-Awsat. He continues to publish many articles in various Publications including, Arab News, an English daily published in Saudi Arabia.
Adil Salahi taught at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, Leicester, England. His famous biography of the Prophet Muhammad: Man and Prophet, is widely respected and has been translated into multiple languages.
